Our first visit to the Quadrangle was a great experience. We spent a wonderful Sunday afternoon filled with history and nature. The moment we arrived we were greeted by lovely feathered friends! They were all very friendly and well tamed. Serenity on the other hand wasn't too comfortable with a flock of peacocks and ducks showing so much love.
Our first thought was maybe seeing one or two deer and a few peacocks, we were completely wrong. The park had lots of free roaming peacocks, chickens, geese and white tailed deer. Also if you bring food they will eat right off your hand! Very neat if you ask me. They do tend to get a bit demanding and will try to stalk you around so watch out. As we continued walking little Renity became more fond of our new friends. That's when the fun really began!! She explored and asked tons of questions. Next thing we know she was feeding the deer and all that came along.
There is also a pond filled with beautiful fish. The park sells fish food, so be sure to bring along some coins.
Serenity ran around pretending she was on a nature adventure. She climbed rocks and got close ups with beautiful animals. We all loved every minute of it! From feeding the deer and birds to learning about the history of the clock tower and the Quadrangle. Overall this is an awesome place to spend some quality time with your family.
Did I mention this was free? Yes this is completely free and open to the public. It is located inside the Fort Sam Houston Joint base in San Antonio. All you need is a valid state i.d. to get on base. They have trails for walking. Benches for sitting and enjoying the view. So if you live in San Antonio or are in for a visit, the Quadrangle is a must for you and your family. This will definitely be a weekend regular for the Riveras : )!
You can get an insight on history here. If your looking to visit you can find more info here.
